Judge Judy: Lancome CILS Booster XL Super-Enhancing Mascara Base

Earlier I published my first mascara post, featuring the Urban Decay Perversion Mascara (https://sitihajaresa.wordpress.com/2016/12/17/judge-judy-urban-decay-perversion-mascara/). I talked about how I need amazing mascara because I neither curl my lashes with an eyelash curler nor apply false lashes. So naturally, a mascara primer or base entices me.

Lancome CILS Booster XL Super-Enhancing Mascara Base:

  • 25.50 USD for 0.19 fl oz
  • A mascara primer that glides on and evenly coats and smooths lashes to maximize the results of your favorite mascara
  • Adds extra length and thickness to lashes for visible performance
  • Allows the black pigments to stand out from the clean base with more intensity

Using the Urban Decay Perversion Mascara after applying this Lancome Mascara Base, this is how the combo looks on me:

Review:

Lancome CILS Booster XL Super-Enhancing Mascara Base:

  • A mascara primer that glides on and evenly coats and smooths lashes

The consistency of this mascara base is very creamy, thus it indeed glides smoothly when applying. It is easy to coat your entire lashes (both sides) with just the initial dip from the tube.

  • Adds extra length and thickness to lashes for visible performance

Upon application of the mascara primer, you could actually notice your lashes ever so slightly increase in length. After the application of the actual mascara, in this case, the Urban Decay Perversion Mascara, you could see a more dramatic lengthening and volumizing effect as compared to wearing only the mascara without the base. While the primer excels in its lengthening effect, I wouldn’t sing as high a praise for its volumizing effect.

  • Allows the black pigments to stand out from the clean base with more intensity

I would say that the black pigments do stand out a little bit more with the mascara primer. I especially love how the combo looks on my lower lashes. But as seen from the photo above, the effect on the upper lashes is not as impressive. There is a slight clumping, but it doesn’t bother me too much.

Overall, I would say that for someone who doesn’t use eyelash curlers and false eyelashes, a mascara primer that works great like this Lancome CILS Booster XL Super-Enhancing Mascara Base is the closest you can come to dramatic, intense lashes. It has been a great addition to my makeup routine and hopefully it will be in yours too!
